A great day with the girls/ladies/friends
We had lots of variety last Saturday at our monthly get together..........
Heather has started a new applique that has black birds on it......and Janet is making a small wall quilt with dragonfly's and bees printed in the fabric.........
Kaylene popped around on Wednesday and asked if I could show here the best way to cut Drunkard Path blocks from a Layer Cake.........by Saturday not only did she have them all cut the whole top was pieced together.......the soft pink and chocolate colours in this top is just beautiful......
Kaylene also bought around her Dresden Plate that she has been making over the last 12 months.......such a great scrappy quilt.......all the fabric have come out of her cupboard......
Along with those two beautiful quilts....Kaylene has also been working on her Pies 'n' Tarts...only two rows to go...........
I can't wait to see these machine and hand pieced tops quilted..........Kaylene has a Longarm quilting business.....and does the most beautiful work.....needs to start up a blog so everyone can see her work.........
Next we have Helen.....I'm sure Helen bought two quilts for us to look at maybe I was too busy looking at the first quilt to take any photos.........
This is such a great babies quilt.......Helen has done some fantastic free motion quilting on this quilt..........
Lorraine and Karen were also there for the afternoon and worked their projects as well....sorry no photos.......
I have got some more of my applique ready for stitching........
Until next time happy stitching ----------

A day at the Park
There are some very creative and talented ladies in our Textile group at Caloundra...........a couple of weeks age a small group went to the Ken Bennett Park for a Flow Walk.
beautiful poem one of the ladies wrote after the walk |
their objective was to awaken the senses..........and collect leaves, sticks , twigs, bark along the way.....these will be wrapped in fabric and dyed........then you have to make a piece of art work to represent your thoughts and feeling from this day....
photo board of the day |
this is Junee with her beautiful wallhanging |
this is Joan's beautiful leaf...it is just amazing |
this is Margaret's piece |
here is Lyn and Marjorie looking at the photo board with Junee |
This weekend the CACA http://www.caloundraartsandcrafts.org.au/ is having a Craft Expo this Saturday the 21 April..........
Each group will have a display of their latest works
this is Jo modelling her felted dress that she has been making |
I will be there to set up the stall on Friday....can't wait to see Jo's dress finished.......Joan has been making Leaf Fairy's also...I hope they will be finished for the display.......they are beautiful..........
If you are around Caloundra on Saturday...come along to the CACA and have a look at what the members have been making...........
until next time.....

A new look
When my sister Christine was first went into hospital, the family had to sort and clean out her flat.......during this time I came to realise that we (I) have so much stuff.....and what happens to our stuff later on.........so.........over the last 18 months I have been slowly going through each room to down size........I started in the spare bedroom and thought I did really well.......but as I have worked through the other room I need to go back and start allover again.........I don't have many photos of the bedroom rooms but I have found a couple of photos of the lounge room before and after........it is amazing how our taste change.......
Before
After
I splurged out and bought a new rug and curtains....it has made the room a lot lighter and fresher...it took a lot to give away so much but in the end it is better....there was so much stuff that was unnecessary.......
and we are really happy with the simpler look.......and I feel much better.........
We have also simplified the rumpus room last year......I will have to find some before and after photos for a future post........it looks better than the lounge room......
Backyard news....we have a new fence..........Peter Smith Landscaping gave us a hand with building the fence....as we just don't have the time to do it ourselves..........
it looks great and makes such a difference to our yard........
I have to do some work in the garden to fix up the gaps under the fence........when we closed the gates yesterday Tilly crawled underneath straight away......another couple of weeks and she will be too big to sneak under the fence........
I'm off to the Caloundra Textile group.......will be good to catch up with the ladies......and have a creative afternoon.............until next time....
Happy stitching - - - - - - - - - -

Aussie Hero quilts and our grass has turned grey
The last couple of weeks I have been making a couple of quilts and matching laundry bags for the AHQ... http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com.au/. If you pop over to my other blog.... http://itchintwostitch.blogspot.com.au/, you can see all the laundry bags we made at the Kimz shop.........
I enjoyed making and stippling this quilt |
something little different I quilted organic gum leaves across the center of the solid fabric |
I have been getting stuck into yard work.......I was moving some retaining walls blocks and soil the other day and over did it a bit.........still think I can work like a twenty year old...until the next day......
I have taken everything out of this garden......except the Dahlia.......we are putting in a lattice wall in front of these water tanks. We need to make a smaller backyard to keep the dogs in.........
the garden bed is empty and the post and reno has been taken out......
and have started painting of the lattice........I started spray painting but was having trouble with the spray gun so Jens ended up doing it for me.......so I went and made lunch.....
home made pizza can't beat it......yum yum......
I am looking forward to the vegie garden looking like this again....at the moment they are all empty and
ready for planting......although I have planted out the potatoes..........we had a stunted orange tree in with the beds.......it never grew so I dug it up and put in this little block wall along the path way.......not the best in building block walls....but for the vegie garden it's ok...
Sandra and I went up to visit Janet to on Sunday ......
on the way we saw this fantastic fence......and I love the old clothes line.......
When we got to Janet's she gave us a couple ( just a couple ) of cuttings and some Agapanthus bulbs......
I checked the moon guide so I will be planting out the bulbs next week........but first each bulb has to be cut back........I also went to the Agapanthus Farm in Maleny and bought a couple of Black Beauty bulbs........looking forward to see them flower later in the year..........
Until next time....
Cathy
